Renuvion™ cosmetic technology’s cool plasma energy can tighten skin
Technological advances in cool plasma energy have created a way for cosmetic surgeons to eliminate loose or excess skin without excising the extra tissue and creating long scars. This minimally invasive procedure is performed in the office under tumescent “awake” anesthesia. Alan Greenberg MD is the only cosmetic surgeon in North Texas who is using this remarkable system to firm and tighten skin.
After witnessing demonstrations of the Renuvion device, talking with cosmetic surgeons around the country and testing the equipment, our Frisco cosmetic surgeon believes that Renuvion is ideal for numerous patients who have skin laxity that liposuction alone cannot correct. It is also suited to those who want to avoid the cost and recovery time associated with skin excisions.
Firm and tighten skin around the body
The Renuvion system is an affordable option for clients who come to our Frisco cosmetic surgeon for neck lifts, tummy tucks, brachioplasties, mini-breast lifts, thigh lifts and other procedures that involve the following body parts.
- Back (including the bra line)
- Thighs (inner and outer)
Healthy patients who wish to tighten skin following pregnancy or weight loss, or those who want to combat the effects of aging, are ideal candidates. Diabetics, traditionally having a high risk of wound complications, and individuals who have a lot of loose skin due to massive weight loss, are better served by different procedures.
The Renuvion cosmetic technology, formerly known as J-Plasma®, is new to the cosmetic industry, but it has been used extensively for other types of medical procedures. It doesn’t tighten skin with a laser, ultrasound or radiofrequency (RF) device, although it does use RF to create cool plasma energy by heating helium gas and turning it into “plasma.”
Our Frisco cosmetic surgeon places the Renuvion device under the skin through tiny six-millimeter incisions, after tumescent “awake” anesthesia is administered. The equipment heats a very small amount of helium gas while a greater amount of helium cools the tissue immediately to limit thermal damage. Skin and connective tissue instantly contract, but do not burn. Skin continues to shrink over the next three to six months and becomes firmer. There is less risk and damage than with traditional laser treatments.
Recovery is very similar to liposuction. Patients return to work two to four days after the procedure and must limit strenuous physical activity for about two weeks. A compression garment worn for four to eight weeks provides the best results with the least amount of complications.

Why Fad Diets Won’t Fix Those Problem Areas
Every few years, there’s a new fad diet guaranteed to drop the pounds, tone the muscles or burn the fat. The cabbage soup or apple cider vinegar drinks may work initially, but the results are often short lived. The truth is that fad diets don’t work to keep weight off long-term.
The Power of Two: Liposuction with Abdominoplasty Offers Added Satisfaction
As a skilled cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Alan Greenberg combines liposuction with his tummy tucks to enhance his patient’s results. He understands the desire to look and feel as good as possible.
A recent study looked at 360 patients undergoing liposuction and/or abdominoplasty to remove abdominal fat. Of those patients, about 35 percent underwent a combination of liposuction and abdominoplasty
