What to Expect with Breast Augmentation Surgery

We will walk beside you every step in this journey, from initial consultation through recovery. Your procedure takes place in an office surgical suite and usually takes one to two hours.

Dr. Greenberg will insert a breast implant behind breast tissue, under or above the breast muscle. The goal is to leave your breasts looking as natural as possible, while enlarging them to your desired size.

To begin the procedure, an incision is made under the breast (inframammary incision) or around the nipple (periareolar incision).

During breast augmentation, a special surgical tool helps form a pocket to insert the implant. There are three primary positions for placing implants:

  • Above the pectoral muscles (subglandular)
  • Partially behind the muscles (partial submuscular)
  • Completely behind the muscles (complete submuscular)

Anticipate beautiful results. You can expect to wear an athletic or support bra for several weeks after your procedure. You can typically return to work within a few days and to full activity within four to six weeks.

Your experienced cosmetic surgeon will artfully disguise the incision to enhance the aesthetics of your breast augmentation.
