Skin Care Steps You should Take
Most skin damage is caused by ultraviolet (UV) rays, invisible radiation generated by the sun, tanning beds and sun lamps. Overexposure to these rays can result in premature skin aging, moisture loss and even skin cancer. Dr. Greenberg offers treatment options such as facial fillers and Botox if you have concerns about your appearance.
Prevent problems before they arise with these tips:
Avoid prime time
The peak sun hours are between approximately 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Try to schedule activities so that you limit how long you spend outdoors during this period.
Choose a product with an sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or greater to provide adequate coverage. It’s also important to find sunscreen that has both ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) protection. When you are going out in the sun, apply the sunscreen 30 minutes before your activity and about every 2 hours thereafter.
Find a big tree or pack an umbrella so that you can get out of the sun and give your skin a break.
If possible, put on loose fitting clothes and wear a wide-rimmed hat for additional coverage.
