Should I Consider Liposuction?

Designed to reduce fat cells in areas of the body that have not responded to diet and exercise, liposuction can allow you to refresh your appearance. After women have children or begin to age, their body shape may change. Many men also have difficulty with losing that bulge around their waist or in their breast area. Eating right and working out may not produce the results you desire. By using liposuction alone, or in combination with a tummy tuck (Lipoabdominoplasty), Dr. Greenberg can make a dramatic difference in your stomach and waist area.

Should I Consider Liposuction?

Understanding the Basics about Liposuction

During liposuction, Dr. Greenberg uses a thin tube called a cannula to suction areas of the body with unwanted fat. With tumescent anesthesia, liposuction has less risk than traditional surgery. This outpatient procedure takes place in Dr. Greenberg’s surgical suite under tumescent, or awake, anesthesia. Liposuction performed with tumescent anesthesia also provides a faster recovery, a quicker healing time and a lower cost.

When thinking about liposuction, consider these points:

What are my expectations?

Before scheduling liposuction, make sure you have a realistic idea about the results. At your consultation, Dr. Greenberg will review the procedure and discuss realistic expectations you can expect to achieve. He can also show you Before and After photos so that you have a practical idea of the outcome.

What areas do I want to improve?

Usually, liposuction works well for areas that haven’t responded to exercise or diet. Dr. Greenberg often performs liposuction on the thighs, knees, buttocks, arms, male breasts, neck, chin, waist, hips and abdomen.

Am I a good candidate for this procedure?

For successful liposuction, you need to be at a maintainable weight, have good overall health, and your skin should have decent elasticity. Anyone with a history of heart problems, blood clots, liver disease, bleeding problems or diabetes may not be a suitable candidate for liposuction under tumescent anesthesia.

Having accurate information can help you make an informed decision about whether liposuction would enhance your image, boost your confidence, and transform your body.
